Predator Team Ireland NCFFI Manager Tomek Kurman reports on the recent World Lure Angling Championships.
“So, we are back from the 15th FIPS-ed Carnivorous Artificial bait Shore Angling World Championships in Italy. It is a beautiful part of the world with snowy mountains, great forests and crystal clear ice cold rivers. The River Noce and Vermigliana Stream were the two rivers chosen for the competition both extremely fast flowing waters and conditions we are not used to. The same river has been used for World Rafting Championships in the past and it was by the far the hardest venue we have experienced. After 2 days in training we knew that competing against the teams who were familiar with the conditions was going to be very tough and we could only but try our best achieving 15th position and last only for Germany. Well done to our top rod Jacek Gorny who managed a healthy 20th place individually and to the rest of the team Lindsay McFadden, David Bowles, Colin Rutherford and Andrew Powell for their attitude throughout and desire to improve & learn. We were rising at 5am for training and stayed on another two days to take advantage of the venue and gain as much experience as possible for the future so we can stand against those who are currently best in the world.
As predicted the home team were victorious, with the top four individual anglers and taking Team Gold and proved they were way beyond reach for even the reigning world champions, and world class lure team, Slovakia who finished in third. Ukraine were second. An outstanding performance from all!
I would like to thank our team delegate- Steven Powell, who was a great help at Captains meetings and for on the spot issues on the ground and to the NCFFI for making the trip possible, without their financial and logistical support we would never have these opportunities. Finally, thank you to our sponsors Duo HookCosta SunglassesSeapower UK and Vass Waders & Rainwear for their continued support in keeping us equipped for the championships.”

with our recent world championships event in Italy this year we knew it was time to get the team kitted with some the finest anglers eye wear, we knew if we could not see clearly when fishing competitively it could lock down the team , this year we decided to go Costa We believe CostaDelMar make the finest sunglasses for any fishing situation and are used and trusted by all of the  team. We have been fishing a very long time and have owned lots of different variates of eyewear these have been the best.

Costa Sunglasses will backup against defects in materials or workmanship for the lifetime of the product. Costa handles every repair or warranty claim directly. If you should have a problem with your Costas.
Costa will repair or replace, any product determined by Costa to be a manufacturer's defect. Since eventual wear and tear can be expected, reasonable repair charges will be levied if repairs are necessary as a result of normal wear, scratched lenses, broken hinges, accidental damage, misuse or any other problems determined not to be defects.

us anglers devoted our lives to chasing fish in the most remote places that bring us to life. That’s why costa  developed the best sunglasses in the world to help us reach these remote angling paradise . Because Costas are more than sunglasses, they’re the badge of the explorer.

some of the hard to catch fish that were effortlessly seen in the water before sneaking up on them and getting them to take a lure taking them quite by surprise

In fresh water, you might be in and out of the shade , looking into muddy or  murky fast flowing water , and you need more light to see the fish clearly. A copper or amber lens is going to provide slightly more light than a darker lens. A specialty sunrise copper or amber  lens is going to let the maximum amount of light in – this is ideal for  late afternoon fishing or when tree cover is keeping you in the dark .

With lots of sun in Italy the thick frames of the blackfin 580s block out side light.  They are super light, as clear as can be, and perfect for bright days which we had a lot of in Italy . I also own a pair with copper 580G lenses which I use on lower light days or while fishing streams with tree cover in Ireland that tend to get very low light

without Costa eye wear.

same photo with costa eye wear vision is superb .

But first, a few words about the technology that sets Costa apart. Polarized lenses selectively block out light waves reflecting off horizontal surfaces, thereby eliminating glare. When fishing or boating, the absence of reflected light makes it easier to see into the water, beyond the surface, to detect fish as well as tree stumps and other hazards. Costa Del Mar’s 580 lenses go beyond polarization, filtering light in such a way that colors are brighter and objects appear more defined. They are available in glass (for situations that require ultimate clarity) and less expensive plastic (for more demanding applications requiring more durability).

predator team member Andrew Powell with a tiny trout, 25 anglers lined the shore and andrew was the only one who could catch fish consistently by spy fishing  , he thanks the use of his costadelmar eyewear

It’s fair to say that fishing without polarized lenses can reduce your ability to land the perfect catch. And according it’s fair to say that Costa Del Mar a company founded by anglers  has earned a place in every serious anglers tackle box
